English language training programmes for staff in educational institutions

The UKMC offers accredited English language training programmes for staff in educational institutions: administrators, teachers, teaching assistants and other educational professionals.

Training programmes offered

  • Duration: 240 academic hours (can be taken in increments of 60 academic hours).
  • Who is it for:This programme is designed to help you acquire and/or improve your basic knowledge of general English.

Training content:

  • All language skills are developed: speaking, writing, reading and listening.
  • Developing the ability to use oral and written language in formal and informal situations in everyday life.

  • Duration: 240 academic hours (can be taken in increments of 60 academic hours).
  • Who it's for:The programme is designed to build on your existing knowledge of general and professional English.

Training content:

  • All language skills are developed: speaking, writing, reading and listening.
  • Developing the ability to use oral and written language in formal and informal situations in professional and everyday life.

  • Who is it for:Teachers who want to teach their subject in English.
  • Requirements:Participants must have a minimum level of B1 in English.
  • Course content:A methodology course that provides the knowledge and skills to teach the subject effectively in English.

Additional information

Educational staff who successfully complete the 60 academic hour course are issued with:

  • Certificate from the programme provider, the Foreign Language Training Centre.
  • Certificate of qualification for teacher training from the partner programme provider VšĮ "Trakai Education Centre".

The materials used during the training remain with the participant.

How can I help another speaker?

My main tasks are:

  • Teaching language structure and grammar - I teach grammar, sentence structure, usage rules and other language features so that students can communicate correctly both in writing and orally.
  • Vocabulary development - I help students learn to use everyday words, phrases, thematic vocabulary, depending on the learning objective (e.g. work-related, academic or everyday language).
  • Developing reading, listening and writing skills - I focus on developing language skills, using a variety of techniques: listening exercises, text analysis, writing exercises, discussions and more.
  • Discussion of culture and everyday life - Lithuanian language teaching often includes teaching about the country's culture, traditions, history and everyday life to help students integrate better into Lithuania.
  • Support and motivation - Often speakers of other languages have difficulties when learning Lithuanian, so I am very patient, motivating and ready to overcome language barriers together.
